JVC Kenwood has announced the Victor SP-WS10BT — a portable wireless TV speaker designed for people who need clearer audio without increasing the volume. It is part of the company's Mimiraku hearing-assistance lineup and will be released in Japan at the end of November for around ¥31,000 (~$200).
The SP-WS10BT uses a 2.4 GHz digital wireless system that provides low audio latency. JVC claims a delay of about 30 ms between the speaker and the included TV transmitter. The transmitter connects to a TV via an optical input or a 3.5 mm analog jack and is powered by its own AC adapter.
The speaker features a two-way system with two tweeters, one woofer, and a large passive radiator. The body is made of MDF to reduce vibration and ensure clear sound. JVC says this design enhances mid and high frequencies and provides better low-end performance for a speaker of this size. Users can choose from “Clear,” “Music,” and “Movie” sound modes. Clear Voice focuses on dialogue for easier listening.
Bluetooth 5.4 is included for wireless music playback from phones or tablets. It supports SBC and AAC codecs. TV audio and Bluetooth audio can be switched with a single button.
The design includes a natural walnut wood top panel and a foldable aluminum handle for easy carrying from room to room. The speaker weighs about 1052 g and offers up to 15 hours of battery life. It can play audio while charging. Three LEDs indicate the battery level.
Other features include a 3.5 mm external audio input, a headphone jack, large physical volume and control buttons, auto power-off, and a simple setup process using the transmitter. The speaker’s dimensions are 210 × 85 × 92 mm. The transmitter measures 72 × 20 × 53 mm.
